Break-even Calculator

Break-even point in units and revenue.

Worth Knowing

The number this returns is a floor, not a goal — it's the point where you stop losing money, not where the business succeeds. It's most useful before you commit to a price or cost structure, since lowering your price increases the units you need to sell to break even (your per-unit contribution shrinks), while a cheaper variable cost per unit lowers that threshold. Also worth watching: costs that look fixed at your current scale (a single warehouse, one shift of staff) often step up in jumps once you cross a volume threshold, so a break-even estimate is really only valid within the volume range those fixed costs were assumed for.

How to Use

  1. Enter Fixed costs into the first field of the Break-even Calculator.
  2. Fill in the rest: Price per unit, Variable cost per unit.
  3. Your result appears instantly as you type — there's no submit button or page reload.
