Worth Knowing

Fencing is a classic fence-post problem, and it's literally where the name comes from: a straight run needs one more post than the number of gaps between them, so ten 2-meter panels require eleven posts, not ten. A closed loop, by contrast, has equal posts and gaps. Overlooking that extra post is the most common fencing miscalculation. Gates, corners, and end posts add further complications that a simple perimeter division doesn't capture.

How to Use

  1. Enter Perimeter into the first field of the Fence Calculator.
  2. Fill in the rest: Post spacing.
  3. Your result appears instantly as you type — there's no submit button or page reload.
