Kinetic Energy Calculator

Kinetic energy from mass and velocity.

kg
m/s

Formula: KE = ½mv²

Worth Knowing

Kinetic energy scales with the square of velocity, which is the single most important and underappreciated fact in road safety: doubling your speed quadruples the energy that has to be dissipated in a crash, and quadruples the braking distance. That squared relationship is why the jump from 50 to 70 km/h is far more dangerous than it feels. Mass matters too, but only linearly, so speed is by far the bigger lever on impact energy.

How to Use

  1. Enter Mass into the first field of the Kinetic Energy Calculator.
  2. Fill in the rest: Velocity.
  3. Your result appears instantly as you type — there's no submit button or page reload.
