Frequency
Worth Knowing
Frequency counts cycles per second, measured in hertz, and spans an astonishing range — from a heartbeat near 1 Hz, through audible sound in the kilohertz, to radio and processors in the megahertz and gigahertz. Each thousandfold step gets its own prefix. A useful intuition: frequency and wavelength are inversely linked, so higher-frequency signals have shorter waves, which is why 5 GHz Wi-Fi carries more data but travels shorter distances and penetrates walls less well than 2.4 GHz.
How to Use
- Choose the unit you're converting from and the unit you want, from the two dropdowns above.
- Type a value into the input field — the converted result updates instantly.
- Swap the two units any time to flip the direction of the conversion.
